About

This authentic, luxury treehouse was designed by B'Fer Roth, DIY Network TV host of The Treehouse Guys and built by the Treehouse Guys. Nestled in the woods on a quiet, private rd with no neighbors in sight, the treehouse is just 15 minutes to Sunday River Ski Resort, 5 minutes to Mt. Abram and 10 minutes to downtown Bethel. The treehouse is abutted by 626 acres of Bucks Ledge Community Forest (7 miles of hiking/snowshoeing trails accessible from the treehouse).

Good to know

The Ski Haus Treehouse is a truly magical experience that you will never forget. This fully insulated, four season treehouse is the perfect setting for a romantic getaway/honeymoon, family vacation, or fun weekend away. IT WILL SLEEP FOUR ADULTS BUT IT IS SMALL (300 SQ FT) WHICH MAY BE SNUG. IT IS BEST SUITED FOR COUPLES, OR COUPLES WITH (UP TO) 2 CHILDREN. It is equipped with a heat pump which provides heat in the cooler months and AC in the warmer months. There is an automatic generator should you lose power. You will enter the treehouse with a set of 6 steps built into a boulder. As you enter the lower deck you will be in awe as you pass by a ski bar and cedar hot tub. The perfect apres ski spot! You will then go up the custom spiral staircase (12 stairs) to the front deck. Here you will see two trees growing up through the deck. These are two of the four trees supporting the house! You will enter the house to find a beautiful well stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook a fun dinner (pots, pans, olive oil, spices). To the left you will find a full bathroom (yes, there is full plumbing in the treehouse!) with a delightful rain shower head. Tucked away in a cozy nook you will find two very comfortable swivel chairs, a record player with classic records, a ukulele and a basket full of games with a game table (behind the ships ladder). If you feel like getting away to read a book or relax, there is a loft with a couch! The couch is very comfortable and can be made into two twin beds or one queen bed. All linens are provided. This loft is fairly small but can sleep two adults. The ladder to get to this loft is flush to the wall and may be difficult for some to climb. On the opposite wall you will find a large ships ladder leading to the master loft. This loft sits over 30' high in a canopy of Eastern Hemlock trees. This is a very stable ladder. In the master loft, you will find a very comfortable queen bed with four pillows to choose from (memory foam and firm) and luxury sheets. You will be surrounded by 8 windows which are perfect for watching the snow fall or the autumn leaves drop from the trees. There are baskets under the bed for clothes storage and hooks on the wall. The "bedrooms" are not closed off from one another. The rear deck is the largest of the three decks boasting a hammock (which is perfect for watching the sun go down), couch and a bistro table for 2 for an evening glass of wine or meal. You will also find a tree going through this deck! Building the Ski Haus treehouse has been a labor of love. It was designed to be a special place to bring joy to others and to allow space to reconnect. I hope that you enjoy this once in a lifetime experience in the trees!

Other Details to Note

There is excellent cell reception and high speed fiber optic internet. There is no TV. Please note although you can hear the loons crying and are only 500' from North Pond there is not a private dock on the pond. You can walk down the ITS snowmobile trail to the water however it is not great for swimming or launching a boat/paddle board. The put in spot for paddle boards, canoes, kayaks and other watercraft is located 1/2 mile walk or drive from the treehouse (see map). A tandem kayak, paddles, and life jackets are provided (at no extra cost). Please note, you will be responsible for transporting to the put in spot (straps will be provided). There are local companies who will deliver boats to the put in spot and also provide float trips and paddle trips with shuttle service down the Androscoggin River for a very reasonable rate if you do not have a truck or rack to transport. The treehouse is built in 3 hemlock trees and one maple tree. This means that there will be lots of Hemlock needles on the decks. I would ask everyone to please remove footwear at the door so the needles don't get tracked in (they are very difficult to clean up!). Staying at the treehouse is a unique experience. You are in a house in the trees. On very windy days some movement of the house may occur. In order for the four trees to move independently, the treehouse is engineered to slide between them which in very high winds can cause some minor noise and movement. It is important to note that the treehouse is not well suited for young children under the age of 6. If you do bring children please watch them very carefully in the lofts and on ladders. The hot tub is also not locked so young children will need to be watched carefully. Absolutely no smoking or vaping in the treehouse or on the treehouse deck. There is a strict no pets policy in the treehouse.

Accessibility

Neighborhood

The treehouse is located on a private dirt road. You will not have any neighbors in sight and the treehouse is a stand alone property. The treehouse is located approximately 1/4 miles down the road and can get a little slick at times in winter and early spring but is plowed and sanded. It would be helpful to have AWD or 4WD during larger snowstorms and in early spring but not necessary.

Guest access

You will have the entire place to yourself.

Treehouse was great. Super comfy bed with 8 windows up in the forest. Nearby Bethel was a pleasant surprise. Go visit the Gem and Mineral museum.

We had a great stay celebrating our daughter’s birthday. Staying in a tree house was a bucket list item for me! The kids loved it, we loved it too. Some good restaurants & breweries in the area, good hiking, and 15 minutes to Sunday River.
